Tokyo uses Japan Standard Time, which is nine hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time. Japan does not change its clocks for daylight saving time, so Tokyo stays on UTC+9 all year.
The difference from the United States changes during the year because New York, Chicago, Denver and Los Angeles observe daylight saving time.
